MIDI Plugin — VST3 / AU
DrumSequencer
A stochastic drum sequencer that generates evolving rhythmic patterns through probability, euclidean distribution, and controlled randomness.
DrumSequencer is a stochastic MIDI drum sequencer VST3 / AU plugin for Windows and macOS, inspired by the philosophy of generative hardware drum machines — but extending it far beyond its original capabilities. Ten independent drum tracks, each with its own density, timing, direction, and expression controls. Instead of programming every hit by hand, you define rhythmic rules — then let the sequencer surprise you.
Every parameter is automatable and responds in real time — tweak density, shift, fill, or swing while the pattern plays and hear it change instantly. Mutate lets the pattern evolve on its own: notes drift to new positions cycle after cycle while the overall density stays locked. The result is a rhythm that breathes without losing its shape.
Save your patterns as presets, export and import full banks, and preview any track's sound with a single click. Fifteen factory presets cover techno, jungle, hip hop, breakbeat, rock, funk, reggae, and latin styles — alongside up to 50 user slots.

Controls
Steps
1 to 16 steps per track. Each track can have a different length — polymetric patterns emerge naturally when tracks cycle at different rates.
Division
Sets the rhythmic value of each step — ten options from quarter notes to thirty-second notes, including dotted and triplet values. Changes take effect immediately.
Direction
Forward, Backward, Loop (ping-pong), Random, or Walk. Walk advances a variable number of steps forward then retreats — longer, more linear phrases with brief reversals.
Density
Controls how many steps are active. Non-destructive and fully live — turning it down removes notes, turning it back up restores the original pattern note for note.
Euclidean Grid
Distribute a chosen number of pulses as evenly as possible across any number of steps — the euclidean algorithm, common in West African and Middle Eastern drumming traditions.
Shift & Fill
Shift rotates the pattern start point without changing the pattern itself. Fill is a bipolar live control that thickens or thins the pattern without regenerating.
Ratchets
Set the probability that a step fires multiple times within its time slot — 2, 3, or 4 sub-triggers. Useful for rolls, flams, and rapid-fire fills.
Accents
Accent % sets the probability of a velocity boost. Accent Amt defines its strength. Ghost notes on the hats, hard snare hits on the backbeat — natural rhythmic emphasis.
Swing, Timing & Humanize
Swing delays every other step for shuffle. Timing shifts all notes on a track earlier or later relative to the grid. Humanize adds subtle random offsets to timing and velocity.
Mutate
At the end of each cycle, active notes have a probability of moving to a new position. Total density stays constant — only placement changes. The pattern evolves while keeping its shape.
Save & Recall
Save any pattern as a named preset. Presets are stored on disk and persist independently of DAW sessions. 15 factory presets, up to 50 user presets.
Bank Export & Import
Export your entire preset bank as a single .dsbank file to share or back up your library. Import any bank instantly.
